Type Locality and Naming

In the eponymous southwestern part of the Kara-Tyube Mountains, where it is most widely developed. V.S. Korsakov in 1984 (1993) distinguished it from the Sarykul suite (460, p.63).

Synonym: Lolabulak Suite, Лолабулакская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Quartz-sericite slates, siliceous siltstone (aleurolites), sandstones with interlayers of conglomerates, limestones, plagioclase porphyrites, and their tuffs, rhyolites. Subvolcanic dikes and sills of liparite-porphyries are widely developed (thickness up to 70m). The formation is 1800 m thick.

Lower contact
